A Moroccan Marvel

A Moroccan MarvelIf you feel the need for a holiday and want to jet off to somewhere exotic, then Morocco is the perfect place for you. Just a short three hour flight from the UK, it has all the allure of an African holiday and is the perfect place to relax in. Take the time to look at last minute hotel deals and immerse yourself in the unique sights, sounds, tastes and smells of this glorious country.

Morocco's second largest city, Marrakesh, has brought the past, present and future together to create a must-see place to visit. The ancient walled city Medina and the modern Gueliz work together in perfect harmony to show you everything Morocco has to offer. Looming high above the city is the Atlas Mountain range, ensuring nature has a watchful eye on the developments of the city below.

Marrakesh has so many treasures to marvel at and there are many that are absolute must-sees for any visitor to the city. The souks are truly a sight to behold and are an experience you will never forget. A series of closely compacted street markets, navigating your way around them is like working your way through a labyrinth at times. Here you can quite literally buy anything and there's no doubt that you will find a souvenir here to take home to remind you of the chaos and fun of time spent in the souks. If you get lost, don't worry - everyone does and that's just part of the fun!

Another certain sight to see is the Djemaa El Fna market place in Medina, one of the busiest in Africa. The main square is a constant hive of activity throughout the day, however it is at night when it really comes into its own. By day, it is another place to seek out gifts and mementos of your trip and where you can take a photo with a snake charmer. By night, it explodes with entertainment and the people flock to the square. The food stalls come out as do the acrobats, musicians and storytellers and the square become the place to be in Marrakesh. Make sure you spend time wandering around and sample the delicious Moroccan cuisine as well as having a cup of traditional Mint tea.

If you want to slow down the pace, there are also a number of things you can do during your stay to relax. For a quieter cultural experience, head to the beautiful Bahia Palace and gaze in awe at the stunning Arab and Spanish architecture of the building. Your camera won't leave your hand on your visit here as you try to capture the beauty of the Palace in all its glory. And if you want to relax even further, book into one of Marrakesh's spas and treat yourself to a Moroccan massage to wave all your stresses away. Make sure you book one for the end of your day though as you'll need time to let the soothing oils work their magic!
